Response Time
The Tennessee statewide network is divided geographically into three regions — East, Middle, and West Tennessee for maximum efficiency. Technicians are headquartered in each region of Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky, to execute emergency fiber restorations or circuit repair within a two-hour response window. Each technician also performs monthly, quarterly and yearly preventative maintenance to ensure network reliability.
Equipment
The iRis Operations team is equipped with the most up-to-date test equipment available. This enables iRis technicians to troubleshoot and repair fiber cable competently should the need arise. Technicians are equipped and trained to test any TDM or Ethernet, copper of fiber circuit from DS0 to 10 Gigabits per second.
In-House Project Management
Every iRis project is assigned to a project manager to ensure consistency and efficiency from the beginning to end.
Training
To ensure that iRis meets the evolving needs of the industry, each employee is assessed annually for additional training. Most employees undergo at least 40 hours of training each year.
OSPE
The Outside Plant Department of iRis Networks is involved in nearly all facets of the company supporting Sales, Operations and Inside Plant. Direct responsibilities of Outside Plant include:
- New route development, striving for "least cost per foot" routing
- Detailed cost estimating for all construction
- Construction build schedules
- Engineering of all aerial and underground routes
- Obtaining all construction permits from local, county, state and federal agencies
- Overseeing the placement of all aerial & underground fiber cable
- Overseeing the splicing of all aerial & underground fiber cable
- Pole attachment agreements with power companies
- Private easement negotiations
- Creating & soliciting RFPs from qualified contractors
- Awarding construction contracts
- Performing Quality Assurance checks on all contractor projects
- Processing underground locate tickets and locating facilities as needed
- Responding to emergency cable outages and restoration of service
